Kat Montagu‘s book THE DREADED CURSE: FORMATTING FOR FILM & TELEVISION (Three Ocean Press) came out as a paperback in December 2020 and was an Amazon Bestseller in three categories within a few days. It is now being used to teach screenwriting all over the world.Kat works as a screenwriter in the film & television industry and as a screenwriting instructor for diploma and degree programs. Kat is currently the senior story editor for the Crazy 8s Film Competition.
Her first feature won the Praxis Screenwriting Competition. Her first TV pilot CONTROL FREAK was a Page semi-finalist and her second FALSE CREEK was optioned and developed by Karen Powell at Perfect Circle. She wrote for the Space sci-fi TV series ALIENATED. Kat has written and produced many short films and co-produced the indie feature film THE PRODIGAL DAD, which had a successful festival run and was recently acquired by IndieCan Entertainment.
Kat has spent the last year writing original solo projects and developing a time travel TV series with veteran American TV writer Sara B. Cooper.
Kat has British, Australian and Canadian citizenship, and loves to travel, but usually lives and works in Vancouver, BC.
